Giant 1m Fidget Spinner with Bearing (no glue or screws 100% PLA)
thingiverse
This is a massive fidget spinner intended for printing in multiple pieces on a 300 x 300 printer bed. The entire project, including the bearing and holder, was designed in Fusion 360 to require no glue or screws. The main spinner parts fit together like a simple puzzle, while the bearing is a press-fit and the center holder is threaded to screw together. The whole unit measures slightly over one meter round (1010 mm) in diameter. This print took approximately one week and a half of non-stop printing on my Duplicator 9 3D printer. I spent several days designing it in Fusion 360, including time to print test pieces to ensure the tolerance/fit was not too tight or loose for the parts to fit together on my 3D printer. I drew inspiration from thing:3361380 created by edlsmith, which explains how a real bearing works. The concept of designing a ball cage significantly improved how easily the plastic bearing spins. This design was intended to require no support except for the balls (print eight of them). For optimal results, see below for Cura settings that can help print them as round as possible. They may need some light filing/sanding where the support touches them on the bottom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3H2889pHUE
