Another GI Joe model drawn using an old toy and a six-inch calipers has been added to the game. Although the file is presented in full scale, I deliberately designed it to be optimized when printed at 25%. Printing within this range ensures optimal detail without having too much or too little. All my friends were obsessed with this toy when we were kids, and it's easy to see why - it was a massive F-14! Who wouldn't want one? The Rattler model may require more printing precision due to its numerous pieces. Don't worry; I created these models to be first and foremost "printable" and then thought about other details. The airframe is one continuous piece, designed to print upside down. You have the option of choosing between swept-back wings or extended ones (no movable wings like on a real jet, unfortunately - you'll need to pick your preference). The joining surfaces are carefully sanded for smooth assembly. The gun pod prints flat-side down, while all missiles are printed pointing upwards. Each missile features a squared-off fin, offering an enlarged surface area for gluing to the airframe. As always, have fun printing and stay alert - those Cobra Stingers might sneak up on you! A significant update on March 5th, 2016 saw the addition of a new airframe model with wider vertical wings, now labeled as such. You only need this updated file if your slicer has issues with the original design. Deep respect and gratitude go to all men and women serving in our Armed Forces - past and present. Their unwavering sacrifice grants people like me the freedom to live in peace and pursue happiness. These individuals are truly American heroes. This 3D model of the F-14 Tomcat is a free download. Licensing was considered; being based on a widely known physical object made it possible to release it under Creative Commons - Attribution. This means very few restrictions apply when using my files. Feel free to print them for personal use or sell and buy physical copies, but do give credit where it's due by linking back to the source. This was necessary to honor our Armed Forces, the men and women who have made sacrifices so people can live in freedom and safety. I've also tried my best to respect existing laws - specifically when creating 3D models that are free downloads or can be used for commercial purposes. This means they are safe for everyone else's personal enjoyment or potential resale as long as the origin is correctly credited, like all other sources.
