GI Joe Devilfish
thingiverse
The GI Joe Devilfish, a model from the 1986 toy line, is showcased here. This waterline model has been cut off at the bottom to create an illusion of floating on water when printed. The uncut version was added in update 6/2. Since the actual toy was not available for modeling, blueprints, online pictures, and estimates were used as references. A notable discrepancy was found between the blueprint's missile mounting location and the box picture. To ensure accuracy, the box picture was followed; however, an alternative placement can be achieved by gluing the missiles in a different spot. Although created at full scale, this file is optimized for printing at 25%. Printing outside of this range may result in too much or too little detail. Special thanks go to Chris for providing crucial dimensions from his vintage toy, making this model possible. The finished model weighs approximately 5 grams and costs around $0.12 for the material used in printing it. This downloadable file is non-commercial due to its resemblance to someone else's intellectual property rather than being an original design. It cannot be bought or sold as a physical copy, but users are allowed to print personal copies. If downloaded from other sources without permission, respect is still appreciated. On Memorial Day 2018, gratitude was expressed to the 1.3 million soldiers (1776-present) who sacrificed their lives for Americans' peace, freedom, and creative endeavors like creating these models. Rest in peace.
