The "deeper" version boasts an extra thread length on the female side, specifically designed to pair seamlessly with my Amana dehumidifier. The initial thread on the unit was stripped, and most hose connectors are too shallow to catch more than the first thread. This deeper one solved that issue, requiring only a rubber washer for a perfect seal.
