Ghostbusters Ghost Trap (1984) for smaller 3D Printers
thingiverse
This is a compact version of the three major components of countspatula's Ghost Trap, allowing it to be printed on printers with a 200x200mm bed size. You will need to print all other parts from the original Ghost Trap if you want the entire thing. The split components are designed to assemble without any glue or additional screws. However, if you wish to sand and paint them, it may be beneficial to glue them first. They assemble perfectly but you might have to do some sanding on the part where support material was attached. Same thing if you're experiencing "Elephant foot syndrome" (that could possibly be an issue with the bottom frame, but you can fix it easily with some sanding or an X-acto knife). List of parts: side_LT_panel_s1 and side_LT_panel_s2 These two parts replace the original side_LT_panel part. You need to print with supports for the larger part ("touching buildplate" support is sufficient). side_RT_panel_GB2_s1 and side_RT_panel_GB2_s2 These two parts replace the original side_RT_panel_GB2 part. You need to print with supports for the bigger part ("touching buildplate" support is enough). bottom_frame-MOTOR_s1 and bottom_frame-MOTOR_s1 These two parts replace the original bottom_frame-MOTOR part. I did not make a split version of the "non-motor" part since there are almost identical (one of the holes on the bottom is bigger; even if you're not planning to add a motor, you can probably use this version). You need to print with supports for both parts ("touching buildplate" support is sufficient). The triangular rim and slot in the middle part of the joint are a little hard to clean (sorry) but the good news is they don't add any significant structural integrity to the assembled frame so if you clean them too much, you'll probably be okay (they are just there to prevent the bottom from bending when you press inward next to the joint). Some note about the top frame: While the top frame will fit on a 200x200mm printbed, you will have less than 1mm of clearance on the long side, which will prevent you to use a brim. Now, printing something that big without a brim can be challenging. I recommend using "hold down circles" if you can. If you're using Cura, I made a small utility to generate a "2D brim" that worked fine for this piece. You can find it there: https://github.com/LeFauve/X-Brim-extender-for-Cura I didn't finish printing every parts yet, but I'm pretty sure those are the only ones that pose problem with a smaller printbed. Note that I'm doing only the trap! The pedal may have some parts needing a cut too (or not) Print Settings Supports: Yes Notes: Touching buildplate support is enough.
