Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Roof Tank Endcaps
thingiverse
These endcap models are for making the Oxygen/Freon tanks and big storage tank atop the roof rack on an Ecto-1. You'll be using 6" Schedule 40 (thin wall) PVC pipe as the body. The compressed gas tanks should use an 8" piece, where the Storage Tube will be sized to your particular roof rack. My Ecto-1 uses a Rola roof rack, and has a 39" body as a result. These models should print fine without support in the middle, but you'll need supports on the outer lip for the gas tank caps. The storage tank cap will print fine upside down. I've also included a drawing for the storage tube handles, so you can easily make them out of 1" wide 18ga aluminum strip stock. Get annealed strip or anneal it yourself before bending to prevent cracks. The gas tanks have a hole for 1/2 NPT fittings. You'll want to tap these shallow and install a 1/2 NPT Male to 3/8 NPT female fitting, like McMaster-Carr PN# 50785K66. As this will be outside in the sun, use PETG. I've also included the original Solidworks files in a .zip file if you want to modify them.
