Ghostbusters 2 Giga Meter
thingiverse
This is a model I created for the Giga Meter from Ghostbusters 2, which can be found on GBFans under my account Tyrael. To make my deluxe 3D models work, you'll need to include electronics such as a 7-segment display, servos for rotating ears, flickering LEDs, a motor for the spinning dome, and a small speaker. Make sure to mirror the handle half once and print two Realistic Microphone models for a complete Giga kit. The handle also features space for a disc potentiometer and pushbutton in any electronics you include. For better structural integrity, I recommend using threaded inserts in the larger holes between certain parts and screws to keep everything together. You can use glue or ABS juice to connect the other components more permanently. Keep this model from being sold by anyone at all costs - that means you, VideoBob. If you decide to make your own meter using these files, please credit Shawn Gealow for creating the original modeling of the prop as is required with the Creative Commons license. I spent a lot of time and effort on these, and it's great to see people making use of them. Unfortunately, I included the wrong handle files in the initial release of this kit by accident. This will be updated when possible. UPDATE 8 APRIL 2016: Forgot to include dome crossbraces initially. This has been fixed now - print both parts and assemble via notches in them. UPDATE 1 JUNE 2019: I'm really excited about the new revisions! I changed several models for easier printing with reduced support material, more accurate parts, and improved assembly. The left and right handle parts are separate files, but still mirrored (so you can mirror one file in your slicer to get similar results). The front cylinder has been split into two - a cylinder part for static LEDs and a motor part. Inner dome is now just a single model that spins on the front motor with lights inside; it also has 4mm acrylic rod holes, matching the original prop. The display is made of three parts for easier printing, also revised for better screen accuracy. There's a shelf on the display cylinder to hold Realistic Microphones in place - print two "Display Side Cylinder" items and attach them on either side of the display where there are small blocks on each side. A huge thank you goes out to WindDrake and TheLegendOfMart for their great remixes. If any part of these revisions looks familiar, it's because your fantastic ideas couldn't be beat! For eBay user franscespep_47: just leave me alone. I'll keep getting my Giga Meter listings removed from eBay every time you post them - you agreed to the CC Noncommercial license when you downloaded my files, and don't even think about breaching that agreement.
