Ghost B3 Stealth Bomber concept for Royal Air Force
thingiverse
Much updated B3 version of my "what if" RAF Ghost stealth bomber - The top surface and nose/cockpit has been extensively remodelled (I've also fixed the slight asymmetry on the wing trailing edge that is visible in the TinkerCAD pics) Scaled to 1/72, this is a strategic bomber that I have designed to fill the long range gap within the Royal Air Force. It is low observable, stealthy, and quiet. It has 2 weapons bays, and 4 crew stations (depending on mission type). To the left (port) of the flight deck is the retractable refuelling probe (just above the intakes). It is best printed by splitting down the centre and at the inside of the rear triangles - it will need a few supports - mainly for the ejector seats, and perhaps an odd one for the internal walls of the cockpit. Otherwise, it actually prints quite well. You will need to make bomb bay doors, and put on an undercarriage - I'll just be delving into my spares box for the bits!! For windows, I will use clear plastic covered with headlight film to give an interesting reflection. These will be glued using PVA so as not to cloud the plastic. Whilst I have managed to blend the cockpit area to make it a nice shape, it may need a bit of filler to smooth the various polygons. I'd love to see any builds - or any modifications! Happy printing!! Edit - I have printed this as above - it worked well. I've used filler to smooth the whole thing (stealth aircraft don't have print marks!). I'll detail the cockpit further, and then put it all together (filling the gaps). It'll take a while - but I'll post the build once done. Edit(2) - I've added a central spar - If you split the model down the middle, then there is an obvious place to put it - this adds strength when you put the model back together, and also keeps the whole thing straight as you glue and fill. Worth noting that if you want to print ejector seats separately, then there are some on Thingyverse...
