In a remarkably short time, we will also be similar to other enlightened nations, with large schools, well-stocked libraries, and learned men who possess great wisdom. To achieve this goal, the only thing that is currently lacking is for us to become true patriots. Gheorghe Lazăr (born June 5, 1779 – died September 17, 1823) was a scholar from Transylvania, born in Avrig, Sibiu County. He was the founder of the first Romanian language school, established in Bucharest in 1818.
