Gestural 3D Printing

Gestural 3D Printing

thingiverse

Introducing Gestural 3D Printing, the latest Kinect hack! Using hand gestures tracked by the Kinect, users can draw each layer of a 3D object, with the printer following their every move. However, creating objects with this method is challenging and time-consuming, as it requires drawing one layer at a time and can cause arm fatigue. The source code is available on GitHub, but setup involves installing multiple dependencies including OpenNI, NITE, OSCeleton, pyOSC, and pygame. Additionally, users will need a Kinect and a 3D printer compatible with RepRap firmwares. Despite its complexity, the creator does not recommend using this hack for actual printing purposes.
