This project is based on the use of 3D printing technology and the reuse or recycling of household materials, which integrally offers a specific use or purpose, thus encouraging recycling, the reduction of the carbon footprint (CO2), and the use of renewable and sustainable energy. The "XG-1 Germination Enhancer" project consists of a modular assembled part, printed using FFF (fused filament manufacturing) printing technology, also known as FDM (fused deposition modeling), which was manufactured in PLA thermoplastic, ecological and biodegradable. This piece manufactured in a modular way can hold up to 5 plastic containers of products such as: yogurt, jelly, desserts, and other similar types of containers, which are presented packaged in plastic cup type, and once consumed, can be reused in the form of germinators, thus giving a second life, and a very useful recycling to these types of materials, before discarding them completely. The "Potenciador De Germinación XG-1", not only houses the 5 containers, but also has an LED lighting system that allows the containers to be illuminated with a type of light that stimulates or enhances the germination of the seeds. Different wavelengths can accelerate or retard growth. These wavelengths that can be obtained are all within the visible light range. Using a standard RGB-type code, the type of light, i.e. the color and intensity, with which it is illuminated in the germinator can be programmed. The light thus emitted comes from RGB LEDs, which are controlled by an electronic board based on an ESP8266-01 microprocessor, and which is programmed in micro-Python language. An application hosted on the ESP8266 microcontroller, allows through a web page accessible through a web server using the home Wi-Fi intranet network, access to a page where you can view and program the visible light color of the germinator. Additionally, in this same web page you can visualize the local temperature and humidity in the local environment of the germinator, thanks to the incorporation of a temperature and humidity sensor that allows you to record this data. Experiments with the "Germination Enhancer XG-1" with different types of light, on different types of seeds, for a period of time between 3-5 days, allow inferring as a result an increase in the germination speed using red light, in tomato seeds. However, further tests are needed to verify this fact, which is beyond the scope of this project at this time.
