The German Sd.Ah.15 is simply a precursor to Brücken Kolonne B, serving as a trailer for its launch. On board the Sd.Ah.15 rode the ferry rope, measuring 250 meters in length, which spanned across a river to guide pontoon ferries built using equipment from Brücken Kolonne B. When positioned at an angle against the current, the ferry effortlessly glided from one bank to the other without motor assistance or rowing. The Sd.Ah.15 was typically towed by lightweight lorries such as the Opel Blitz 3t.
