For some time now, I've been eager to design a model tank with 3D printing in mind. On other websites, I've noticed that many tank designs fail to consider the factors involved in FDM 3D printing, such as overhangs and support material. Designing this model took considerable time, as I wanted each part to fit together perfectly without glue or any support material during printing - a challenging task indeed. To create the tank, I utilized reference images from Google and imported them into a session within Solid Works to generate the basic shapes. Certain features on the Panzer IV were altered to enhance the printing experience and eliminate support generation altogether. The model boasts an inbuilt bearing within the turret, allowing it to function as soon as it's printed. Furthermore, the cannon can move up and down, adding significant value to the model. I printed the tracks using Ninja Flex, eager to experiment with this innovative material. You can purchase Ninja Flex from the iMake3D website if you wish to try it for yourself. The wheels on this model are stationary, but I plan to incorporate movement in future designs. This product will be shipped unassembled and unpainted when purchased through the MyMiniFactory Store.
