Gerezani Fort, Kilwa Kisiwani, Tanzania. The original model featured 75 million faces, a staggering number that was drastically reduced to 50,000 faces by incorporating the original geometry and baking it into an 8K normals map, an 8K ambient occlusion map, and an 8K diffuse map. This drastic reduction allowed the model to fit within a tight 50-megabyte limit. The data was painstakingly compiled from 717 aerial photographs and 1344 terrestrial photos, meticulously collected by CyArk. These photographs were generously distributed by Open Heritage 3D.
