Geosite 3: When exposed rocks are subjected to atmospheric agents (temperature, humidity), water, and biological action, various changes occur within them. Different physical, chemical, and mineral processes gradually weaken it, break it down, and transform it into other materials, which eventually give rise to the "soil," the most superficial layer of the Earth's crust, the skin of rocks. In this transformation, the colonization of lichens, mosses, and microscopical life, followed by the establishment of insects, larger plant species, and various types of fauna, are crucial for soil development. As soil-forming processes deepen their activity, different layers are generated, one on top of another, each with its own unique characteristics.
