This is my attempt to translate the chess-like game featured in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels (Game of Thrones). As an avid fan of the man and his work, I wanted to give his game the best translation possible. Working closely with my good friend Nate Stephens, a fellow Martin scholar, we adapted the game to include everything mentioned in the book into a rules set that felt authentic for a game from its emulated time period. We also considered the games that Martin has mentioned as inspiration during interviews. So, if you decide to print or play it, please let me know and share any suggestions for rule adjustments, variants, etc. Post them below and let's start a conversation. Instructions With the current rules configurations in place, you'll need to print the following: Each side (Onyx and Alabaster) has three Rabble pieces, three Spearmen, three Crossbowmen, three Light Horses, two Heavy Horses, two Elephants, one Catapult, one Trebuchet, one Dragon, one King, and one Keep. All of these pieces are grouped to reflect their distribution, so you only need to print each STL once. If you're feeling adventurous, you can print the full plate with all the pieces for one side. In addition, you'll require six mountains (three per player), four board sections (two per player), a pair of screen braces (both in the same STL), and the two halves of the screen. I printed mine in black ABS plastic and painted the pieces with acrylic model paints. The pieces would look great printed in black and white ABS, and wouldn't need painting at all. I also painted the board with a checker-pattern to make movements easier to track, especially diagonal ones.
