Geometric Deer

Geometric Deer

thingiverse

This DIY project is inspired by the geometric deer model found at IKEA stores. My wife wanted smaller versions of our originalIKEA purchase, so I designed and printed these models. To assemble the deer, you'll need to print its body, both front and back sides, as well as four legs (two front and two back). You can find detailed instructions on 3D printing this project at https://www.stevenquinndesign.com/blog/diy-christmas-decorations-with-a-3d-printer/. Here are the print settings I used: Printer Brand: RepRap Rafts: No rafts were needed for this print job. Supports: This design did not require any supports during printing. Resolution: The resolution was set to 0.1mm for high-quality details. Infill: Twenty percent infill density provided a good balance between strength and weight. After the print, I assembled the deer by gluing its various parts together. Some light sanding on the contact areas ensured a smooth fit, then Krazy glue held everything in place. Next, I applied a metallic spray paint to give the deer a shiny finish. Finally, a coat of satin varnish protected the paint and gave it a nice sheen.
