A Simple Spool Restraint Design to Prevent Filament Jamming I designed a straightforward solution to stop the filament from spilling over the spool's edge and jamming the feed. It's frustrating when this happens, especially with full or loosely wound spools of filament. To prevent jamming, I used a weight that can be anything - in my case, a scrap piece of Nylon measuring about 10mm x 20mm x 300mm. You could use similar-sized objects that are slightly slippery as an alternative. For extremely overwound spools, add extra weight like two 1/2-inch sockets placed vertically. At first, I considered building complex kludges with springs and elastic, but I opted for gravity as a simpler solution. It works beautifully most of the time.
