Geoffs Geared Extruder - all 3D printed
thingiverse
I discovered that both my Solidoodle and Myriwell Direct Drive extruders lacked sufficient Stepper grunt, causing issues when I tightened the Tension Spring too much, resulting in skipped steps. Unsatisfied with existing Geared Extruders, I decided to create a custom version. This design can be used as a standard Bowden Extruder or modified like I did with my Solidoodle, where an adapter is created to attach the Geared Extruder directly to the E3D-V6 hotend. To mount the Bowden Pneumatic connectors effectively, I found it best to run a 6mm tap through the BSP adapter and then glue it into place within the body. After several months of use, no problems have been encountered so far.
