Geodesic dome 1V Assembly type
thingiverse
After designing a 2V, 3V dome, I decided to design a 1V dome with a diameter of 20 cm. In 2V and 3V domes, the plate thickness was 2 mm, but at 1 V, the triangle was too large and it was too soft, so it was changed to 3 mm. This is a geodesic dome 1V that you can print and assemble into a very beautiful sphere. To make this dome, you will need to print triangle parts and a bottom plate. There are two types of parts: AAA (equilateral triangles) and the bottom plate. You will need 15 pieces of the AAA part and 5 pieces of the bottom plate to make the dome. When printing the bottom plate, please print it in a vertical position. If you print it horizontally, the strength of the snaps will be reduced. If you want to make a sphere instead of a dome, you will need to print 20 pieces of the AAA part and no bottom plate is required. Assembling the dome or sphere is easy if you look at the photos provided. Simply print the parts, assemble them together, and you will have a very beautiful geodesic dome or sphere. If you want to make an enlarged version of this dome, you can do so by printing it with a larger scale factor. However, shrinking this design may be difficult because the structure of the snap connections cannot be maintained when it is shrunk down.
