geocache post end
thingiverse
I created a location for one of my caches that underwent significant changes, and upon observing the surroundings, I concluded that a standard hide would be challenging. After taking a few measurements, an idea emerged that you can see here. The photos demonstrate its placement, although it's not exclusive to road closed signs; any 2"x2" (51mm x 51mm) square post will suffice, including street signs and speed limit signs. In my neighborhood, the possibilities are endless, and I'm confident you'll discover multiple locations. For situations where multiple posts are nearby, a small cap is included to conceal the surrounding posts, preventing obviousness. However, I found that strong winds can lift these caps unless secured with electrician tape. Fortunately, the cache didn't experience this issue. Feel free to remix or modify it as you see fit to enhance its functionality. This design was crafted using Tinkercad, and you can edit it online at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/44xAsLbx7fk. Print Settings: * Printer: wanhao duplicator i3 * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 200 * Infill: 15 Notes: To prepare the cache, you'll need to clean out the grooves with a flat file. A leatherman file works perfectly for this task, but if you don't have one, a flat square-edged file will suffice. I recommend printing with ABS for its durability and aesthetic appeal – it's not too shiny or smooth.
