Genie Garage Door Rail Reed Sensor Mount
thingiverse
I created a custom setup in SketchUp to attach my reed switches directly to the garage door opener rail, enabling me to determine if the door is fully open or closed. This project marks my first attempt at creating something from scratch, and I'd love for you to test it out and provide feedback! I've included both the SketchUp files and STL files for your convenience. To ensure a smooth installation process, please attach the printed part to the rail immediately after printing, as the plastic will still be slightly flexible. Be cautious not to apply too much force, as I had to replace one or two broken parts during testing due to over-tightening. The mounts use 3.5mm wide screws for secure attachment. I apologize for the less-than-stellar photo quality; I still need to remove the residual foil tape from the old setup before taking more professional-looking pictures. This design specifically caters to the Genie 1.25 HP Belt Drive Garage Door Opener With Battery Back-Up, available at Lowes.com (Item # 737050, Model # 7055-TKV).
