The Geneva drive, often likened to a Maltese cross, is a gear mechanism that efficiently changes continuous rotation into periodic rotary motion. The revolving driving wheel features a pin which slots into the driven wheel's slot, propelling it forward by one step. Additionally, the driving wheel boasts a raised circular blocking disc that secures the driven wheel in place between steps.
