Geneva Mechanism

Geneva Mechanism

Geneva Mechanisms have been employed in vintage movie projectors to supply forward and hold for 35 mm film. Crafty mechanisms for cell phone cases have been designed and shared on Thingiverse (and other platforms), allowing users to tinker with them during mundane telephone conversations, and even a few standalone STL files have been published. This has motivated me to model the mechanism in Openscad, mainly for mastering the program. Additionally, an animated video of the gadget's operation is included. If you run the program in Openscad, you can animate the assembly by setting the "What" parameter to "animate." A YouTube video showcasing the mechanism's functionality is available here: https://youtu.be/qOa82gb5AIE Feel free to experiment with the code. The parameters are calibrated for a seven-spoked Geneva wheel, but there's certainly room for improvement in the code.
