The Geneva drive, often referred to as the Maltese cross, is a gear mechanism designed to convert continuous rotation into an intermittent rotary motion. It achieves this by means of a driving wheel with a protruding pin that fits into a slot on the driven wheel, propelling it forward one step at a time. In addition, the driving wheel features a raised circular blocking disc that secures the driven wheel in place between steps, ensuring smooth and precise operation.
