Geneva Mechanism
grabcad
A Geneva Mechanism generates periodic rotary movement from constant input speed. The driven member, known as star wheel, features evenly-spaced slots that engage with a roller of the driving crank. The number of these slots determines the relationship between the stationary and active phases of the driven shaft. Functioning requires a minimum of three slots; additional slots can be added. As the drive wheel spins, it engages the star wheel's slots, triggering motion. When the pin exits a slot, the star wheel remains stationary until the pin returns to that slot.
