Revised Latch Design Update: On May 9, 2015, I uploaded the files for "Release_latch_rev1," which improved upon the initial design by making it smaller and less bulky. The wall thicknesses were reduced as they seemed overkill in the first version. Additionally, I increased the tolerances in the hubs to enhance rotation by the servo. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to test print this revision. Initial Latch Design: I proposed a 3D-printed generic release latch mechanism designed for remote triggering to drop various objects. The design was made robust for withstanding hard landings and was printed in two hubs within one print, making it 100% 3D print-centric. A "hook" or male end of the latch was included for integrating into the object being dropped, while more detailed payload designs will be shared later. I plan to test a working prototype and appreciate comments and likes on my design. Note: Do not generate support material through your slicer for any of my models; they are pre-designed with support. Check out my other entries: Flare Holder (QUASS) and The Whale Sponge (QUASS).
