Generic NEMA 23 printed axis
thingiverse
Introducing my newly created NEMA 23 sized axis for the Z-Axis on a CNC mill! It's incredibly sturdy and uses 8mm rods with LM8UU Linear bearings in the slider. For those interested, I have posted the coupler design to attach the motor to the threaded rod on Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:41003). The parts list includes a rubber tubing for the rod, 608 skate bearings, 5mm x 25mm bolts and nuts, a 1/4 threaded rod, 8mm or 5/16 rails, and four LM8UU linear bearings. The assembly process is straightforward, but aligning the threaded rod through the nut on the slider's underside can be tricky. Ensure that the nut's indentation fits properly; I used a Dremel-like tool to clean mine up for perfect alignment.
