Man was a fragile being: five feet six inches tall, one hundred pounds of body weight, and an extremely weak will to survive in his native environment on Earth's surface. He spent two-thirds of each day either running from beasts, trying not to get caught by other humans while engaging in war, or getting hit by some piece of nature - like thunder, rock slides, etc. In between he took the remaining time to scrounge up whatever he could from his surroundings for sustenance. However there was something more - Man's will to live. No one is quite sure when it occurred but somewhere along the lines man realized that the environment did not necessarily have to dictate his survival or death rate, as much as other things, including other men. And slowly through various interactions of people working together to do simple tasks (i.e.: get water), they eventually evolved and improved in all aspects to become what can be argued as the strongest animal alive today
