Generic 3D-Printer Shutdown Device

Generic 3D-Printer Shutdown Device

thingiverse

If you want to shut down the power supply after a print, this device is here to help. All your printer needs to do is flip a pin to ground - the input is idle high and designed to handle 3.3 volts for use on a Raspberry Pi - when finished. To re-enable the power supply, simply press the button. The device will wait 120 seconds before cutting the power supply, during which time the LED will be blinking and you can abort the process by pressing the abort button. Pressing the abort button for three seconds while waiting for print completion will instantly switch off the power. The gehaeuse_ausschaltbox.scad is just a preview - don't bother printing it. To rebuild this device, you'll need to be able to program an AT-Tiny85 (the source code is included), solder a circuit, and handle high voltage (230 volts in Germany). Be careful - doing things wrong can be fatal. Here's what you'll need to buy: * Two bistable relays rated for 5 volts * One ATTiny85 * Two low-voltage switches * One high-voltage switch * A LED * Resistors (five 10kOhm, one 100kOhm, and one 470 Ohm) * Capacitors (three 100nF) * C-Mos 2N7000 transistors (three times) * Five M3 nuts * Five M3x12 screws You can find all of these parts on www.Reichelt.de. If you'd like, I can provide the exact ordering numbers. To build this device: 1. Open the .brd and .sch files in EAGLE to create your PCB. 2. Configure the fuse bits of the AT-Tiny as shown in the screenshot. 3. Use avg-gcc to compile the main.c file and an ISP programmer to flash the AT-Tiny (no Arduino support). 4. Print the chase, mount everything together, and connect it to your printer in this order: socket -> device -> device power station / printer. To start, simply press the button and have fun!
