If unsure what to do, print the file set_chinese_cross.stl and try to solve the puzzle. The 6-piece Burr interlocking puzzles are made of six (usually wooden) notched sticks that should be reassembled in a three-dimensional object where the sticks hold each other in place. Usually only one can be removed which is the start of the disassembling. A special case is the solid burr puzzle which does not contain any holes in its internal when reassembled. It is known that there exist 314 configurations of six pieces that build up a solid burr. These 314 configurations can be built from 25 different so-called notchable pieces, which can be found in notchable25set.stl. However, some pieces are needed twice or at most three times to build up any solid burrs. Therefore I included the notchable42set.stl which hold some duplicate pieces. These are enough to reassemble all the 314 solid burrs. Apart from this complete set, I included several standard 6-piece minisets that form one of the 314 possible solid burrs. Thus, printing one of these 6-piece sets is one complete burr puzzle. Finally you can find STL-files for each of the 25 pieces separately. One can, for instance, print the sticks in different colors. Well-known 6-piece burr puzzles (between brackets the pieces included in the set): diabolical_structure (1,256,256,256,928,928) chinese_cross (1,256,824,975,928,1024) six_way_set (52,792,911,824,975,1024) yamato_block (1,188,824,975,1024,1024) Other six-piece burr designs (between brackets the pieces included in the set): love_s_dozen (88,512,704,960,992,1008) piston_burr (88,512,768,922,1008,1008) computer_s_choice_unique_10 (624,702,768,883,1015,1024) baffling_burr_puzzle (52,615,792,960,992,975) hoffmann_burr (1,188,256,960,975,1024) philippe_dubois (120,160,256,512,880,960) tenyo_brother (463,564,760,909,927,1016) double_cross (1,154,256,256,1024,1024) artifactory_5_4 (412,480,512,704,704,960) I added the SCAD-file as well so that you can define your own set or create other pieces than the standard 25 notchable ones. In the SCAD-file it is possible to change the size, the predefined gap between the pieces (to allow for printing errors), and the rounding radius of the edges. Moreover, you may choose four different stick bases. The burr "chinese cross" has been included in base 1, 2, and 3 as well (see base[n]*.stl files). More information about burr puzzles can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burr_puzzle I'd like to refer to Rob's Puzzle page which is an excellent website about (among other things) Burr puzzles: http://www.robspuzzlepage.com/interlocking.htm Finally, there is a website of Bill Cutler who did a lot of research on this topic. See http://www.billcutlerpuzzles.com/ or http://www.cs.brandeis.edu/~storer/JimPuzzles/BURR/000BURR/NOTES/WebPagesExpanded/CutlerComputerAnalysis-ALL.pdf For some reason, the controls do not show up in the customizer. I am working on it. If anyone has any idea... Print Settings Notes: There are a few pieces that need support.
