Generative Violin Bridge
thingiverse
This bridge was also released with the Modular Fiddle. Check that thing out if you haven't yet! <h3> This is the first violin bridge ever printed that's designed using advanced generative algorithm driven design methods.</h3> This bridge is optimized for low mass and high stiffness, resulting in a very stiff design. It has virtually no harmonics, as shown by the screenshot of the modal analysis. That lack of harmonics really translates into a unique sound quality on my violin. Although not exactly an improvement, it makes my violin sound completely different. There's some room to file down the string mounts to get your string heights dialed in, but this bridge may not work on all violins. Try it out and see what it sounds like! <h3> Revision Notes</h3> R2 - Initial Release R3 - R2 seemed a bit too flexible in torsion. I added a beam across the lower part to span between the two sides. R4 - Moved feet up a little to reduce bridge height, and thickened them for better print results on larger nozzle printers.
