Generative Design / Topology Stool & Furniture Brackets
cults3d
I recently completed Coursera x Autodesk Generative Design for Additive Manufacturing Certification course. In this course I learned how to setup a generative study. In order to create some practical real-life application for this technology I created this stool design. It has been optimized to support a load of 100 kg before failure. Note these values do change as real world materials and FFF printed components will have their innate weak-point of using PLA. If I get the opportunity I would love to try and SLM/Metal 3D Print these parts to really see the true capabilities of this design. The stool design is "live" meaning once a load is applied the materials will flex out slightly in order to accommodate for the applied load. All the components were printed using a Makerbot Replicator Z18 and AMZ3D White PLA. The wooden dowels and stool top were purchased separately. Once all combined both a rustic and modern design is completed. It was fun to play around with different materials to see how they come together.
