Joseph Piston was a French general who played a pivotal role during the French Revolution and the Napoleonic wars. He made a name for himself at the Battle of Austerlitz on December 2, 1805, by leading his brigade into fierce combat against Austrian and Russian cavalry forces. The renowned sculptor Chinard, based in Lyon but with frequent visits to Rome, was celebrated for creating exquisite portrait busts and medallions. This object is part of the "Scan The World" initiative.
