The GE C36-7 diesel-electric locomotive is constructed by GE Transportation Systems, GE do Brazil, and A Goninan & Co from 1978 to 1989. This locomotive features an updated design with a 16-cylinder FDL engine, significantly improving its performance capabilities. The GE C36-7 resembles the GE C30-7 externally but has larger air intake openings below the radiators for enhanced cooling efficiency. Additionally, the dynamic braking grids of later units are situated in a high-mounted box located behind the cab. A total of 599 examples of this locomotive were produced.
