Gel Electrophoresis Comb
thingiverse
This replica of a Gel Electrophoresis comb is designed to create cells within the gel itself. Overview and Background Purchasing traditional combs for gel electrophoresis became an unaffordable option, as each one typically costs $12. To address this issue, I measured and modeled a custom design that can be printed for under $1 instead. Lesson Plan and Activity The comb is used in the same manner as standard gel electrophoresis combs. First, create an agar-based gel solution, then insert the comb into the gel while it solidifies. Once the cells are created, DNA can be introduced into them, allowing for gel electrophoresis to be run.
