GEIO Robot neck joint repair
thingiverse
I have a pair of the GEIO FPV fighting robots, and they're very nice. However, the "neck" joint is delicate, and one of my kids managed to break it. Opened it, it looks like two molded plastic posts hold the turret to the motor that turns it. It seems pretty hard to get a solid glue joint there. What I did instead was model a "splint" with two holes that match the posts. That way I could glue the splint in place, and it will hold the posts in place when I glue those in turn. Note that the white servo plate is some kind of Delrin, and it doesn't seem to stick to epoxy too well. However, the shim I described does work well to reinforce the neck joint, so you may consider adding it before your robot breaks. This is a pretty niche application, since not many people have these robots, and even viewers will break them. If this is you, here's how you use this thing: 1) Download and print it 2) Check that it fits over the posts on the turret side of the GEIO 3) Turn on GEIO and connect to its app 4) In Battle mode, center the turret using the controls on the right side of the app 5) Glue the splint in place on the top of the motor, making sure not to get any glue on anything that is not the top plate. Since you centered the turret in step 4, make sure the splint is centered 6) Wait for the glue to dry 7) Test fit the turret in position 8) Use the in-app calibration features to fine-tune the turret position 9) Use a small amount of glue to fit the turret to the splint
