Geeetech spool holder
thingiverse
I adore my Geetech i3 acrylic printer which I meticulously assembled from a kit myself. However, one of the features that was a bit underwhelming was the spool holder which honestly, looks like an afterthought and is noticeably "Heath Robinson." The latest Geetech spool of PLA which recently arrived doesn't even fit because when in the holder, the bottom touches the base and doesn't rotate freely. I have therefore created this sleek new spool holder. It has a small base plate that can optionally be screwed to the base to prevent the holder from sliding around relative to the printer. It was printed without supports (it doesn't need any) and no raft. One end of the shaft I bonded using Araldite. (I did consider making the shaft all-in-one but that would have been a bit of a support nightmare so the glue-on option won out.) You will also see I have published a replacement console for the Geetech, also available on Thingiverse.
