I wanted to create a welcoming environment for my Geeetech i3 printer, transforming it into an installation rather than a clutter of mechanical and electronic components. Another filament guide project is underway, utilizing 1.75mm filament exclusively. I designed a sleek guide to conceal the unsightly hole in both table tops and bottoms. Printing two guides will complete the set. Cable management is crucial with electronics mounted beneath the table. A cable gland system allows for organized routing of cables from the lower table. Additional components used in this project include: Stacking feet: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1418251 Hinges: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:624325 OctoPrint: http://octoprint.org Print Settings: Printer: Vertex K8400 Rafts: Irrelevant Supports: Unnecessary Resolution: 0.1 mm Notes: Resolution is not a critical factor. Post-Printing: Finishing and mounting are crucial steps in integrating the printer into an IKEA Lack table. Many excellent solutions already exist, but I needed to address specific challenges. A new filament guide was designed to be installed on both sides of the table, top and bottom. The guides provide a sturdy frame around the drilling area, which is essential given the material's fragility. Several holes were drilled with a 5mm drill bit, and the slot was tidied up with a sharp knife. Cyano glue secures the guides in place. The cable gland system follows a similar process: drilling and cleaning the hole with a sharp knife to ensure cardboard residue is removed.
