The original PCB fan was far too noisy due to its small size. So I created this Geeetech I3 Pro B GT2560 cover with FAN and door. It accommodates a bigger 70mm, quieter fan, located on a door, so you still have access to the GT2560 board. 4 x magnets keep the door closed. Uses all existing holes in the Geeetech I3 Pro B acrylic version. Extra's required: > 70mm x 70mm quiet fan, with a depth of either 15mm or 20mm. This design should accommodate a fan up to 20mm deep > 4 x 8mm diameter x 1mm deep magnets keep the door closed - buy these from ebay. > depending on the fan you buy you may need to replace its connector with a JST PH 2.0mm 3 pin female connector to connect to the male fan connector on the GT2560 board. > 4 x m3 nuts and 25mm bolts to secure to the printer frame. - I had some of these left over from the printer assembly. you'll need some adhesive for the magnets, I used contact adhesive. I cable tied all of the existing wires to the right of the GT2560, covering the existing fan ventilation holes, see photo. Optional extra: I installed a 50ohm resistor inline on the red positive wire, this reduced power and made the fan even quieter again. I didn't measure it scientifically, but there was still more airflow than the original fan.
