Geeetech I3 pro 8mm Acrylic Filament Holder and Mount
thingiverse
This filament holder is engineered to snap around the acrylic Z Top Mounts on either side and bolt directly into the frame using spare socket cap screws provided with the Geeetech printer. To accommodate potential overextension of the threaded rod and smooth rod, counter bores are integrated into the interior. I chose not to use a traditional straddling mount to prevent putting unnecessary stress on the acrylic frame, nor did I want to create new holes in the frame. This innovative design allows for dual head extruders as well. This custom filament holder should function with any Geeetech 8mm frames and is adaptable for different setups. For those who prefer using 1/2" schd 40 PVC, included end caps prevent pipe displacement from brackets. An updated feature has been added - a flat base allows the filament holder to sit securely on a desk or side surface without support. Instructions: Print side holders along with one of the bases, choosing either side where you'd like to mount the filament (or both for dual extruders). You can also use an optional spool shaft or PVC end caps - I chose to go with two 1/2" schedule 40 PVC end caps. Use #10 3/4 wood screws to assemble the spool holder, first snapping it into place underneath before securing it to your machine with extra M3 x 20mm cap screws that came with the Geeetech printer (bag 27).
