Geeetech i3 plywood printer reel holder
thingiverse
This is yet another filament reel holder, a simple solution for a nicely curved front on the Geeetech i3 plywood version. A special modification was needed to accommodate its unique design. The left-hand side (LHS) and right-hand side (RHS) pillars are crucial components of this setup. The LHS features a cutout that provides easy access to the SD card slot. Each cone is reinforced with a 608Z ball race, precision-crafted to ensure smooth operation. Specifically, these cones utilize 608Z Miniature Bearing Metal Shields Ball Bearing with an 8mm shaft and a 22mm diameter by 7mm thick metal shield. A robust 275mm length of 8mm threaded rod serves as the primary structural element, holding everything together securely. To add extra stability, a couple of nuts are used to clamp the rod at one end. Initially, the spacers were designed to be slide-on components but proved to be a bit too tight; they now require screws for secure attachment. While the pillars fit well on top, an additional screw hole is needed to ensure a more secure attachment point. To address this, slots have been added to the top of the design to facilitate easy reel changes in the future.
