Geeetech E180 MKS-Mod
thingiverse
One year ago, I purchased the "Geeetech E180". The alignment of the print bed proved a challenge from the start, threatening to destroy the printer. But I persevered. During the first print job, the touchscreen froze completely. I waited for the print to finish and restarted the printer, only to be met with a blank white screen - all functionality had ceased! I was forced to operate the printer solely through software. I have never encountered such a poorly designed printer. The urge to smash it against the wall was almost overwhelming, but that would have been too extreme. Instead, I chose to strip away everything defective: electronics, wiring, motors, and parts of the mechanics. With these components removed, I rebuilt the printer using an MKS-Base v1.5 / MKS-TFT 28 v3.0, replaced the original extruder with a J-Head (with modifications), and rewired it slightly differently. The result is what you see in the photos: a printer with a solid operating concept, ideal for printing small parts up to a maximum size of 120x120x120mm. The printer is controlled by "Repetier-Host", just like my trusty "Kossel 360". It produces outstanding results, as evident from some of my previous projects ("Made"). For those interested in learning more, I've attached all the custom components and configurations to this project. Have a great time exploring!
