Geeetech Al. Rear Mounted Radial Fan Shroud

Update 19 Mar 2017 Some people complain that the bracket for the fan is fragile, so I redesigned both the shroud and bracket to give more strength in the fixing area. I also added a slot for the fixing nut/s and made the adjustable area bigger. The files to use are FixingBracketV7 & MainShroudV8Round. Update 7 Dec 2016 I added two new files - MainShroudV6.stl & FixingBracketV5.stl, which allow for two screws to be used for fixing to provide a more secure and stable fixing mechanism. Note that this shroud may not fit with the original 33mm throat due to lack of clearance between the end of the X bracket and the bed. It fits perfectly with anyone who has upgraded to a 50mm throat. When my Geeetech Al extruder throat got blocked, I purchased a 50mm replacement, which gave me an additional height for the end of the nozzle of about 17mm. This also gave me a bigger gap between the end of the Z axis bearing bracket and the bed. My original design used a normal fan with a circular shroud, but it was underpowered and cooling was inadequate. I read that radial fans give more air output, so I designed this fan shroud to fit to the back of the X axis steel bracket and use a radial fan. The design also allowed for adjustment in the Z direction to achieve an ideal location. After much testing, I came up with this model, which pushes more air with less noise. This fan whine was more noticeable after fitting these silent fans: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1798758 The bracket is designed to allow X movement for adjustment and the fan shroud itself allows adjustment in the Z direction. Since anyone printing this needs cooling, I also included a dummy "helper" object. Sketchup files are included in case you need to tweak the design. Print Settings: Printer: Geeetech Full Metal Aluminum Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 20% Notes: It is best that the fan shroud is placed at one corner and the "helper" object at the diagonally opposite corner, giving the part enough time to cool down while other parts are being printed. This takes longer but the results are worth it. Please see the image of the build plate attached to see how to position/rotate the objects for printing. You can fix the shroud with a 3mm bolt+nut or a 3mm bolt and this item embedded into the bracket - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100Pcs-Lot-M3-3-M3-x-3-Brass-Insert-Nut-Thumb-Brass-Knurled-Round-Nut-Injection/32438775666.html if you print the version with the single hole. I bought this fan: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Black-Brushless-DC-Cooling-Blower-Fan-2-Wires-5015S-12V-0-14A-50x15mm-/281859519472?hash=item41a022f3f0:g:FpAAAOSwsFpWSxcI, which has a ridge on one end and the shroud is designed for a press fit.
