Covered freight car of German Federal Railways, built 1953-1958 Gedeckter Güterwagen Glmhs 50 der DB This car was my first 3D-printed model that I offered on Shapeways in 2013. Since then, there have been large-scale models from Brawa and Liliput, and I have removed the car from my offer. The variant with wooden walls presented here is not yet available in large series. I have 3D models of all prototype variants, but I would only place them here upon concrete interest. Here https://www.1zu160.net/scripte/forum/forum_show.php?id=684913&sb1=&s was the model discussed back then. Epoche 3 Car with wooden walls High-standing end signal holders Track N (1:160) The prototype: The large covered freight car Glmhs 50 of Deutsche Bundesbahn was built between 1953 and 1958 in a quantity of over 12,000 units. It was the most common large freight car of DB. The car body initially had wooden walls, but from 1954 it was built with plate walls. The cars initially had high-standing end signal holders, which were later moved to the buffers after the end signal could no longer be seen from the front. The first delivered cars were equipped with a brake house, which was removed after only a few years. Required additional parts: 2x short coupling kit www.peho-kkk.de, order No. 005 2x axle set d=6.2mm l=13.85mm www.modellbahnradsatz.de, order No. 37 2x hexagon nut M6 (as ballast weight) 2x buffer block www.kuswa.de, order No. ng201 4x buffers (Kuswa, Thomschke) 4x coupling loop www.kuswa.de, order No. nf207 4x end signal holders, www.kuswa.de, order No. nf220 70mm spring steel wire d=0.15mm (e.g. Fohrmann) for the 12 hand levers 1x lettering set Epoche 3 www.modellbahndecals.de, order No. 7610 Instructions: Preparation of 3D printing parts: Clean the raw model thoroughly, preferably in an ultrasonic bath Underframe: It is recommended to install the axles as early as possible. They protect the brake shoes and axle holders from damage during handling. The buffer blocks from Kuswa are equipped with reproductions of the brake hoses and armatures. These sit exactly at the place where the end pillars of the car body would be located on this car. The parts are therefore separated. For operational use with NEM coupling, the brake hoses cannot be used anyway. The buffer block is adjusted in width to fit into the available space between the corner posts (about 0.2mm must be filed off). The top of the buffer block is freed from the stops that protrude after folding up the buffers. The buffer blocks and buffers are glued with instant adhesive. The hexagon nuts M6 serve as ballast weight and are screwed onto the corresponding receptacles. The paintwork is done in RAL 9005 "deep black". The coupling loop kit has the coupling side stop removed. It is then attached. The position of the kits can be varied by up to 1 mm. The outer position corresponds to NEM, shifting inward reduces the coupling distance dependent on the available minimum radii. Car body: The additional parts are mounted according to the drawing. The car body and additional parts are painted in RAL 8012 "reddish brown". Roof: The roof is painted in "gray aluminum".
