EDIT: May 2019. Printed with clear PLA that has different color permanent marker pens scribbled on the reel before printing, yielding somewhat random yet very pretty results. The "Gecko 1.5 Magnet" file has a slightly modified hole to make putting the magnet in easier. This is not my design; it comes from...http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1363148. I wish I had this kind of talent. All I did was add a 6x1.5mm magnet hole, allowing our little gecko to stick to the fridge like a real gecko would. The photo shows the gecko printed at .3mm resolution and .1mm layer height so you can see the difference. It tells how to dye Nylon.https://richrap.blogspot.com/2013/04/3d-printing-with-nylon-618-filament-in.html, so I decided to give it a try. A reel of Nylon was placed on its side in an ice cream container with enough dye to go a little less than halfway up the reel. First was brown; after 30 minutes, it was taken out to drain then washed, and this process was repeated for the other side using yellow. Then the reel was placed overnight on a heater to dry it slightly. Both pictures are of the same gecko but the camera changed its color. I'm pretty impressed! However, I have to fiddle with the printer settings as the layers are separating. Hats off to WebmasterZero :) It prints well with no support or raft needed and is very popular among the grandchildren (and grownups too). This is WebmasterZero's design with a hole for a 6x1.5mm magnet superglued into it.
