Gecko with Custom Eyes
thingiverse
I borrowed the eyeball concept from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2703059. Using marbles or ball bearings for creature eyes is an exciting idea. When printed correctly, these "eyes" should snap right in. To experiment with different eye sizes, simply print an eye socket and scale the model if necessary. My previous test attempts show that scaling 164% for 0.625" dia marbles works well - but I haven't tried it with this file yet. Always measure the marbles before printing as they have huge variances, which is why I prefer using ball bearings. Gecko4_375_eyes.stl is designed for 3/8" (0.375) diameter eyes. Printer: XYZ Da Vinci Mini 3D Modeler: AutoDesk MeshMixer 3D Slicer: XYZware Settings: No Rafts Yes Supports (I haven't tried no Supports, it might work) 10% Infill Normal Shell 0.20mm Layer Medium Speed Baby_Dragon_375_eyes.stl uses ~7.6 meters of 1.75mm PLA filament and takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete.
