Gecko Fridge Magnet
cults3d
This is a remix of thing 1363148. The gecko features three magnetic cavities that allow for embedding 1, 2, or 3 magnets based on the required force. The cavities were designed to accommodate 5/16 x 5/16 cylindrical Neodymium magnets available from many sellers on eBay (8mm x 8mm cylindrical magnets will also fit). To embed the magnets, pause printing a few mm above the magnet's top surface (0.6mm base + 5/16 = about 8.6mm), so pausing at z=11 would be sufficient. Then drop the magnets in, push them down with a non-magnetic toothpick, just to be safe, and finally drop a few drops of super glue before resuming printing. Hints: * When inserting three magnets, alternate their polarities to ensure they stay in place while dropping the glue. Having all three magnets in the same orientation makes them harder to manage. * If you print multiple geckos, you can use both right and left models for variety (they are mirrored by the Y axis). * Make sure to drop the super glue below the printing line so it won't contaminate the nozzle. * Using two magnets (leaving the middle one empty) results in a fairly strong fridge magnet, stronger than most cheap fridge magnets available at stores. * I print with opaque PTEG (e.g. red) due to its saturated color and shiny texture. * Infill level is not critical; 10% or 20% should suffice.
