Gecko DeskPal Fridge Magnet

Gecko DeskPal Fridge Magnet

A creative combination of ModernGnome's Gecko model, tailored for use as a fridge magnet. My kid loves placing items on the fridge and is enthusiastic about neodymium magnets and 3D printing, so I merged these interests in this remix! She even assisted with measuring the magnet using my digital calipers - it seems she has a knack for engineering! I have 6x3mm magnets available, so I modified the STL file to accommodate that size by adding a hole - a bit wider than necessary for tolerance issues with my printer. Tinkercad was used to create the hole, but unfortunately, it altered ModernGnome's smooth model, making it angular when viewed up close. Despite this, it prints well at 100%, but scaling it too large is not recommended. You can acquire the magnets used in this project here - http://amzn.to/2adgI9p, and the green PLA from Rigid.ink here - http://amzn.to/2adgorq. Take a look at my selfie with Beatrix Potter! A time-lapse of the print is available here: https://youtu.be/-7RefkLkQE0 Please excuse the orange/red residue on the print, which resulted from leftover material from a previous print that I couldn't remove from my bed or nozzle - no need to worry! It may require some force, so adjustable locking pliers can help. If it's loose, apply a dab of glue on the sides to secure it. Attach it to a metal surface! Design Process: Remixed with a 6.2 x 3.5mm circular hole cut out of the STL file.
