A First Look at a Set of Teeth... When we talk about teeth, we're referring to the entire set of chompers that a vertebrate or human possesses. This is where digestion gets underway: specialized teeth in both the upper and lower jaw (incisors, canines, and molars) break down, tear apart, and grind up food.
